MixMeister Express App Reviews
Google for “Mixmeister forum" or ask anyone about it ... IT´S definetely DEAD, like iDJ on iOS !!! audio configuration doesn´t work, NO support, numark is ignoring the whole stuff, no controller support for the “MixMeister controller”, crashes on and on … SO DON´T !!!
WASTE OF MONEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HORRIBLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HORRIBLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HORRIBLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This application is barely beta quality : iTunes Export doesnt work, category list often unreadable, try to write file into the application package (which is read-only after Mac App Store install, scroll bars around windows dont work as expected, etc. Also, the tutorial was prepare with an older version and some control must be understand by trial-error. It is not possible to remove sound effect once imported and other similar quality issues. We spend more time trying to find workaround than to really do music mix. It is so sad as this is really a one of its kind application. PLEASE FIX IT SOON! Which such problems, actual price is theft. Until then, application should be avoided or used with caution.
Basic
Pretty Basic, but everything works just fine. I had no issues with it, great for making fast, easy mixes. Two Thumbs Up.
wasted money.
it is not native app, it has terrible user experience. its slow as hell. I prefer Parallels + Win + Mixmeister Fusion.
I used this software on my PC for a couple years, and was able to work with it, with no issues. I wasted $70 on this application for my MacBook Pro - The applications locks up, I cannot change my Playlist Order, my itunes playlists do not import in the correct order, and there doesnt seem to be a correct way to move them into the Mixmeister Playlist, sometimes the next song is first, sometimes it becomes the last, and there is no way to sort them correctly… Click and Drag does not work at al on the mac. Very Disappointed that i threw away $70
this was very easy to understand. it has a very basic layout to make it user friendly. ive made lots of mixes on this and it works amazingly. only con is that it was $70.00
Ive spent years using Roxio Jam and enjoyed the ease of making mix tapes with some originality and flair. This app. has more features but lacks the great layout and ease of use of Jam. How do you take a song and put it first after the mix is made? You got me. Why does it occasionally sound bumpy and scattered? Damned if I know. Theres no user guide or manual. There is a blog and forum whaich are like finding a needle in a haystack. They need an update and fast. Some good ideas housed in a clunky environment that should be easy to maneuver but isnt. Frustrating and far too time consuming for whats being done. If I could return it and get my money back I would.
I just recently switched to ableton live, and this software is the reason. As a long time user of MMP for PC (which they have steadly made worse since version 6), I switched to mac and was very happy to discover that mixmeister was availble for mac. I payed the 70 bucks and what I got was a huge disappointment. It doesnt 1/4 of the things the same software would do on the PC… It doesnt automatically calculate bpms for the tracks in your library. Its slow, its awkward, it crashes… Its really too bad - this was the best software out there for a long time.
I can not believe how many features do not work on this software. I does some things well. But when it doesnt, it simply does not work. I do not think this company has a QA department. Let me give you a couple of examples: - Print playlist command - It does not work and it renders the menuing system useless - you need to restart the application - Import files automatically - It just does not work. You almost always end up with an empty library Among the very few things that work well are the mixing and the control you have over you mixes. For that I gave two start instead of one.
I purchased this MixMeister Express for my PC and used it for several months with very little problem. I created really fun playlists and loved how easy the program was to use. I purchased my new MacBook Pro and so naturally, spent another $70 to download the Mac version of MixMeister Express. WHAT A COLLOSSAL WASTE! This program is HIGHLY unstable…the program crashes after i move 1 or 2 songs to the playlist. It moves at a crawl and will not respond to placing songs where I want in the playlist…I can choose from the first song (where it wants to place all my songs) or if Im lucky, I can get it to place a song at the end of the playlist. I have to save after EVERY move. Its taking me 3-4x as long to create a playlist. I am so frustrated. And…to add icing to the cake, there seems to be NO customer support and NO way to get my money back. I would strongly advise NOT to purchase this app unless you want to throw your money down the drain.
Bought the app, after a month it became slow. Unstable song search, unstable play, unstable performance. No bug fixes for more than 4 months, no updates. Tried to reinstall, went to the app store and its asking to purchase is it again. Waste of time and waste of money!
ok for mixing cocktail / dinner music
after reading the reviews i still bought it becausse i only need this to mix cocktail hour and dinner music.
Why…..
….Can’t you update the software?! We paid our money.
UPDATED REVIEW 2-25-15: Received the new version 7.6 of the software from the Mixmeister people. They worked out all the bugs with Yosemite and it works perfect. I would recommend purchasing this. BUT PURCHASE IT FROM THEIR SITE, NOT THE APP STORE HERE. Thanks Mixmeister for being so great and giving me the upgrade from the previous versions. Updated review after a month of trying to use this software. This is the biggest piece of crap software out there. I had the pro version of this software on my PC and purchased the express for my mac and boy is there a massive difference. Dont waste your money on this software. It is total crap in the Express version on the Mac. Jumpy playback, volume levels wont come in automatically with the tracks, will not scan music library automatically with crashing. Mixmeister support is horrible. I recently purchased this for my MacBook Pro Retina and it will not run on Yosemite. I brought in my entire library, spent 4 days letting it scan and record the BPMs for each track and now I cannot use it at all due to the entire library of tracks disappears after it opens up. I have reached out to ME but have yet to receive any support to fix the problem. Dont buy this software until they work out the bugs for running on a Mac. The PC version runs beautifully though. I used to have MM Studio and freaking loved it. My advice, look at other options similar to this type of software.
I just want to confirm that as of September 2015, and in spite of a software update to 7.7 (which seems to require a license that my App Store purchase doesn’t provide, the software is still buggy. Almost unusably so, for example, the keyboard commands to zoom the timeline are plus and minus. Minus doesn’t work. Speechless. You might also think swiping on the trackpad would move the timeline left and right, but no, you are from the future, a future that’s not going to happen. I just embarked on another painful mix with MM because the basic architecture for beat matched mixing is wonderful, and at $70 I wanted to get at one more use out of it, but this will be the last. Painful hint: don’t open your playlist directly, it pops up an error, then opens part of it but looks corrupt! Open the app, then open your file. Grrr. And finally, a trick: if you want to later more than one track, the manual says convert a track to an Overlay track, this did not work for me, the menu items referenced were not in the menu! So I added a dummy track, zeroed it’s volume, moved its outro anchor to the end and then added the real track. Then position the real track along the dummy track to where you want it… Better yet, buy Logic or Ableton or Traktor or….
